Meaningless Death in War

At SN we dont often “do “politics. But we realised lately that there are certainly some politicians on our Board! So we thought to throw a political issue in here which seems meaningful.  We knew grandfathers who were awarded
medals for “bravery in the field” in WW1, but were they so smart?  Betrand Russell  sent to prison for being a conscientious Objector has our vote over them.   That mad conflict decimated the male population of Europe,  and in its wake led to WW2.. ….  not a war to end all wars by any means!

The Path to Glory - WW1 Postcard

” 2014 marks the hundredth anniversary of the beginning of the First World War. Far from being a “war to end all wars” or a “victory for democracy”, this was a military disaster and a human catastrophe.

We are disturbed, therefore, to hear that David Cameron plans to spend £55,000,000 on “truly national commemorations” to mark this anniversary. Mr. Cameron has quite inappropriately compared these to the “Diamond Jubilee celebrations” and stated that their aim will be to stress our “national spirit”.

That they will be run at least in part by former generals and ex-defence secretaries reveals just how misconceived these plans are.

Instead we believe it is important to remember that this was a war that was driven by big powers’ competition for influence around the globe, and caused a degree of suffering all too clear in the statistical record of 16 million people dead and 20 million wounded.

In 2014, we and others across the world will be organising cultural, political and educational activities to mark the courage of many involved in the war but also to remember the almost unimaginable devastation caused.

In a time of international tension we call on everyone – including writers, actors, musicians, teachers and campaigners – to join with us to ensure that this anniversary is used to promote peace and international co-operation. ”

Take sannyas 100, 200 years back and one can imagine, how many people would have died by bullet wounds after the death of patriarch.
Falsification of will and the counter effect would have taken a different toll.
It is just childish and downright stupid to blame the past. People will always shit in the same way, though it is a big consolation that sanitation industry have developed better means.
    Is it because of meditation?

I would really like to meet friends of Lokesh, just to enquire, whether the man has some sense of humour and understanding irony in words!

    • satyadeva says:

What exactly is the point of this photo, Preetam? It shows the British king & queen at the site of a German air-raid during the last world war, showing solidarity with the local people.

They, too, would have been targets for the Nazis, in case you don’t know.

      • Preetam says:

It does not show solidarity, it expresses authority. Even they were attacked by the Germans still it’s good for propaganda use of the same dominating goals by spreading fear.

Just, my way of interpreting, that it is one War against Humanity, it is one deal.

        • satyadeva says:

Preetam, it’s just ‘the world’ running its course, as it probably always has done and probably always will.

If you’re determined to focus on such externals – in this case wilfully misinterpreting them – then you’re simply wasting your precious time, resenting what you are powerless to change.

          Why bother?

          • Preetam says:

Why bothering? The external is also internal and in reverse in a ceaseless exchange, of just one Palace.

            • satyadeva says:

Preetam, if you can see the ‘oppressive authority’, the greed, the wish to control, the selfishness etc. etc. in your ‘self’ then I might agree there might be some point in your apparent obsession with ‘what’s wrong out there’.

As it stands, what you communicate to me is mainly a sort of righteousness, a false conception that you (and others like you) are the ‘pure ones’, or at least the ‘innocent, exploited ones’, the victims of the ‘nasties’, the ‘baddies’, the ‘evil ones’.

This is a somewhat childish mentality, but ok, I suppose, if you find living in a comic book world makes sense to you. I guess it simplifies the complexities of life rather pleasantly, doesn’t it?

Wise men and women of sannyasnews can visualise what kind of world would have been NOW, in case both the world wars have not taken place?

If European union has become a borderless reality; is it because of few young men and women from Europe who dropped their differences and became One citizens as part of Osho Sannyas movement?

Who knows? Power of seeds is like this.

  5. Lokesh says:

    Not exactly cutting edge.

  6. Lokesh says:

Chuddy King enquires, ‘ is it because of few young men and women from Europe who dropped their differences and became One citizens as part of Osho Sannyas movement?’
….Ehm…..no. Mehinky he havey a hyper active imaginaton..perhaps something to do with those seeds. Datora?

All that people like sannyasins can do against war is demonstrate against it. If we get any good at it we will be infiltrated and appear to be doing violent acts.

We have to stop worrying about subjects that we can nothing about, and we know even less about.

If you want to stop wars, you have to stop bullying in schools. Children (especially boys) need to brought up differently. War is the result and not the cause of the problem. Drug-wars, wars on poverty, wars to save the peace… we are dealing with lizard brains.

  9. shantam prem says:

If one listens to sannyas google doodle, With Osho teachings world can become free from wars, boundaries of the countries will be dissolved, there won´t be any more armies, the manpower will work in the fields and factories.
Yes..it is possible if, Dr. Amrito the right hand man gets the Prime Minister position in Great Britain; the little country who has fought the maximum wars and battles.
People with no knowledge about human nature and its pitfalls are living in a fashionable world of make belief.

If during last few decades no major war has broken, much of the credit goes to the two world wars. Without getting wounded on the path, one will never chalk out another path.

ED: PLEASE PROVIDE MORE DETAILS, MADHU. WHICH POSTS AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY “HACKED”?

  11. Preetam says:

Seems ‘No’, please mod better delete the wrong Caesar quote.

    Thanks for the Link, Hafiz.

MOD: OK, HAFIZ’S AND YOUR CAESAR QUOTES HAVE BEEN DELETED, PREETAM.

    • Preetam says:

Then instead I hand in what I first wanted to post before the Caesar post according the meaninglessness of death in War.

It is not meaningless for certain sects for their occult / spiritual view it depends on the standpoint. Already the Book of Job asks about the use of Death and Suffer of innocents.

I’m simple, it is the popular Methodic of old and modern governing groups. By the way, the name of latest launched corsair is ‘Black Rock’. The Method is simple and effective… we anyway accept force as Authority… first spreading fear, chaos and after get what you want by blackmail. All the rest is to hush up that we are dominated.

Very nice, since how long we have peace movements and other reform movements, but the leeway becomes less and less.
