Chopra reviews Chaitanya Keerti’s Latest Book
This collection of Swami Chaitanya Keerti’s columns, written over a period of time, indicate the intensity of his spiritual search, as well as the depth of his understanding.
Keerti
As Tagore says, the aspirant dives into the deep sea, much like a diver in search of a pearl that is as rare as it is elusive. When he dives in, there is no guarantee that he will find anything other than empty shells. The process is arduous and often filled with doubt and self-conflict. The fact that the aspirant does emerge with a “perfect pearl” – of enlightenment, insight, awakening – can only be described as a miracle.
For Swamiji, the ocean he dives in time and time again is undoubtedly the wisdom of his master, Osho. For many of us, it is difficult to fathom the entire breadth of Osho’s teachings, so wide and varied they are in their spiritual and intellectual reach. Upon reading Osho’s extensive commentaries on texts as complex as the Vijnana Bhairava Tantra and as obscure as The Book of Mirdad, and his expositions of the teachings of legendary teachers like the Buddha, Jesus, Kabir, and Lao Tzu among others, one can only marvel at the truly “oceanic” nature of Osho’s wisdom. Osho is the kind of guru who is not just an illuminator of ignorance; his luminescence is as close to being an actual source of spiritual light as can be hoped in human incarnation.
Swami Chaitanya Keerti, who has had the good fortune of directly receiving the master’s teachings, emerges not just as an ideal conveyor of these teachings, but one who is able to tailor them according to this day and age, as the need might be. This happens several times in the book, as in the chapter, ‘Meditation: An Individual Revolution’, where he comments on a cover story in Time magazine on the “mindfulness revolution” sweeping the US, and places mindfulness in its proper meditative context. Or in ‘The Escape Within’, where he tackles the trauma caused by earthquakes with a Zen story that exhorts one to go within when there is an upheaval without.
It appears that Swamiji has been able to absorb the master’s wisdom, arrived at a place of knowing regarding the truth that they point to, and put them into actual practice in the world. In this sense, he is able to not just look at the ‘finger that points to the moon’, as the master would be described in Zen terms, but actually see and experience the moon of spiritual wisdom for himself. Swamiji’s words, in that sense, act as pointers to others, those of us struggling on the spiritual path.
One endearing quality of Osho’s teachings, which Swami Chaitanya Keerti seems to have imbibed from his master, is that of witty repartee, coupled with the rendering of weighty philosophy in easy-to-understand everyday language. Anecdotes and jokes are employed to dispel the reader’s mental lethargy and freshen the mind to keep it alert to the task at hand of understanding that which is being said.
For readers interested in spirituality, this book has the potential of becoming a credible and trustworthy companion on the path. For those who are looking for something deeper in their lives but do not quite know what it is, this book can be a starting point, the beginning of an adventure that is sure to last at least one lifetime, if not many.
This first appeared on Osho News, but there is no facility for commenting there
Chopra reviews Chaitanya Keerti’s Latest Book…
This “Chopra” thing gives the impression as if Deepak Chopra has reviewed the book. In that case, it could have been the big shot leading Keerti to big talk shows in America.
I wrote a comment on a previous post where I discussed with keyboard ‘friends about the vices of the Sangha, real or imagined; I could not post it there because it is no longer open for comments, perhaps because the same undercurrent topic from there is taking place here:
Are there too many expectations for pearl divers, very few people who emerge with perfect pearls vs. many more who remain with doubts and self-conflict in their hands?
Consequently:
In the name and in the world of Osho are there more reasons to stay alone or to stay together? Each of us alone with our own bitterness while it seems that it is no longer the love to make the world go round while Pune is not anymore the world ‘heartbeat;
Or, should we stay together dreaming of the past but judging each other the today? Or…?
God is great! We die in Aleppo, you die here!
And also tonight the little hope of getting to sleep is swept away by the new events in Berlin and Ankara, not only the night takes a new perspective, darker:
As if was not enough the personal background survival ‘theme of these last years, with the fresh additional daily news of intricate civil suit with relatives and neighbors, its material costs in fees and neurons, playing chess with my lawyer…God is great!
Yes, crap.
Wondering if we are more Buddha or Zorba, if my ego is thinner than yours…
See people killing and being killed in the name of God suddenly gives me a flash on those disputes, among us, beautiful souls.
I know, there’s something else, there is always something else, even here, right now.
I watch a video about Chaitanya Keerti, a Mala Celebration…Milarepa band is singing.
Facing faces, some deep breaths, the tension goes, people dancing around, my own people, the most beautiful and vulnerable that I know, in their smiles, always beautiful and young, in the playfulness of those slight movements, diving.
God is great!
This is my dark turning dance night; a gathering of peaceful people around the same old Fire.
When I emerge from that sea my eyes are full of August Miasto stars, in the ears the echo of Pune ‘smoking temple songs, and wherever was a guitar.
In my heart, Friends from all around the world; Also a few Friends that I have not had time to say goodbye who give to me the urge to celebrate, the only way I know to remain human, all I can do.

P.S:
This was the previous comment:
I so agree with almost all I heard recently:
With grounded people that are so deep in their roots to forget their aim to bloom higher.
With people who are proud of not having arselick Osho’s dead balls; the same brave people who when exposed during the Mystic Rose find the way for their sanity to show here their profanity ‘approach, talking behind the Leader’s back.
People who claim to learn by inversion but forgetting that who is speaking does it in a ‘negative way’, with the result of doing the opposite of what He said;
So fuckin’ agree that fits with what Osho has ‘bred and promoted’ below:
“The Master is VIA NEGATIVE; he’s the path of negation. He simply takes away: he says, “This is not true, This is not true, this is not true” – he goes on eliminating…
There are three types of teachers in the world: one I call the charismatic, another I call the
methodical, and the third I call the natural. These three divisions are also the divisions of
therapists too; there are three types of therapist: charismatic, methodical, natural. The
division has to be understood…
I am not a leader, I am not a charismatic Master, a charismatic teacher, because a
charismatic teacher is dangerous: he kills you, you are nullified, your being is effaced. To
be under the guidance of charismatic person is like trying to grow under a big tree –
impossible. It is impossible. You may think the tree is protective but to grow under a big
tree is impossible…
The second type of teacher-Master-leader is methodical. He uses methods, not spirits. He
will not overpower you with his spirit, he will simply give you methods — better than the
first, because he will never make you a slave…
The word `method’ again comes from a Greek root which means `to follow’. The second
type of leader-Master-teacher will follow the disciple; he will give a method. He will
never lead you, he will follow you. The second type of therapist will follow the patient:
he will listen to the patient, he will try to find out what the patient’s need is;
he will listen to the student, to the disciple. He will look at you, and he will help you from behind. He will never be ahead of you; he will push rather than pull you. He will not drive you, he
will simply persuade you.
The second is better. Of course, many people are attracted to the first and very few are
attracted to the second.
The third natural Master, the natural healer: he never leads you, he never follows you, he
accompanies you. He simply holds your hand; he is a friend. Buddha has said, `Next time
when I will be coming, my name will be Maitreya, `the friend’.”
If anyone still has keeps like me the book of Osho Quotes (Therapist Training 2003) would find the whole quote at page 10, if not go to ‘The path of Love@, #4.

WHY MUST EVERYBODY WHO WANTS TO DO MEDITATION OR HEAR THE LECTURE PAY FOR THIS?
”The question comes, naturally, from an Indian and a non-sannyasin who does not understand me at all, who must be a newcomer. The Indians think they are the most religious people in the world; all bullshit. They are the most irreligious people in the world — they just have an egoistic idea that they are very religious. If you are really religious, you will be ready to pay for your meditation with everything, even with your life.”

‘No Comments’ shows the irrelevance of the string based on the book glorying natural Prozac!
Is not meditation synonymous with Prozac, the way religion is to opium?
MOD:
N.B: Shantam SENT THIS BEFORE THERE WERE ANY COMMENTS PUBLISHED.
Yes, nonetheless, I understand what Shantam means.
There are as many versions of Osho floating around as there are people who had something to do with him, even if they just happened to have read one of his books. Everyone has a story to tell and from what I can gauge Keerti’s is not one that attracts me, which is not to say that someone else might feel quite the opposite.
My favourite spiritual books have not changed much in thirty years: ‘I Am That’, ‘The Psychological Commentaries’. More than a lifetime of illuminating study in either of those, veritable fountains of wisdom.
The article states, “Swami Chaitanya Keerti, who has had the good fortune of directly receiving the master’s teachings, emerges not just as an ideal conveyor of these teachings, but one who is able to tailor them according to this day and age, as the need might be.”
Osho does not need a conveyor, because he conveyed what he had to say perfectly well himself, which was part of his uniqueness…his language holds appeal for everyone from layman to adept. Osho interpreted various masters’ teachings expertly and presented those interpretations in easy to understand language . Now we have someone who needs to interpret those interpretations.
Got to go. I have an important meeting with Micky Mouse. One of the perks of having had the good fortune of directly receiving the master’s teachings.
That’s the best, most straightforward, imo, post you’ve ever put up here.
I agree with it, you see
These extremely predictable comments – either negative or unintelligible – and ofc completely irrelevant to the book in the topic that none of the commentators have read make it highly praisable and understandable that Oshonews doesn’t allow comments!
Thank God for the comment facility on SN , we could never have got to know what BH had to say!
Bodhiherrenvolk,
And your comments are not predictable?
For the great devoted disciple that you attempt, but fail badly, at presenting yourself as, you appear to have marginally less self-awareness and intelligence than the scrapings from the ass of an emotionally-disturbed baboon with learning difficulties.
As for your comments about the comments facility, which you yourself just can`t seem to keep away from (like a Catholic priest watching porn just to find out how disgusted he is), can I suggest that you emigrate to
North Korea (they have excellent website moderators there)?
Lokesh.
Now you’re doing exactly what Frank has pulled Heeren up for.
That is hilarious.
Dear Frank,
For my sake if you can, please try to be careful with what you say about Catholic priests in public, as you must know by now how sensitive, and easily offended I am! (Even though what you say is absolutely true!)
Yours sincerely,
Father T. Paddy
Bodhi Heeren,
From time to time you come here, throw some pebbles of superiority by putting others down and disappear. You think this hit and run Taliban way is the Sannyas way?
]
Why don´t you create an article based on your Sannyas experiences and life of here and now. You are not one of those who cannot create sensible prose.
re madhu and francesco…..
I am giving a rendition of the kinds of conversations I have around the smoking temple, over tea, in private and during and after groups and with friends. I must have met around 200 plus people this year in groups in and out of Osho worlds, whom i conversed and dined with.
People have thanked me for my honesty. I always swear in groups and in my private life when making a point. Do you ? It is not done for effect on SN. I support people who otherwise feel strangled by the stupidity they have paid for.
Other people who wanted to confront the bollox of Jesuit Osho crap did so in group and recently….. and had a fantastic result for themselves. I am enriched by this fun of truly hanging out and this veracity, post Osho.
I would only challenge another idiot if they got in my way, waste my time and/or are taking my money. like I did at the Mallorca meditation festival in the summer where so many people congratulated me for my refusal to listen to ‘cuntism’. It sounds better than cockism.. but use whatever you like. I’m not bothered by opposition. In fact if it happens so much the better and quickly.Although I really prefer warm evenings with friends, who are on the level with me. But it also means my fun is idiosyncratic… no religious address…. so far…
You don’t have to read my posts, It is not a paid-for group.
This kind of saturnalia in hate speech, being then claimed to be ‘honesty in action’, Prem Martyn, Ashok and other buddhies, from wheresoever as anonymous operating fellows, does NOT serve anything for the better and does not serve anybody who was and is victimised and taken as a a target.
I come to know that by my own life experience!
You probably would say, would you (?), that serving those really victimised is the least of your intentions? You then add finally: “You don’t have to read my posts, it is not a paid-for group.”
That – for me – is a psychopath´s final stroke and nothing else. Not able to discern ´honesty´ from a psychopath´s behaviour. Being even proud of it in the joined manners of an Andersch Brevik, Norwegian self-appointed ´Knight of Honour’! That´s Bull-Shit indeed!

“One endearing quality of Osho’s teachings……. is that of witty repartee…..Anecdotes and jokes are employed to dispel the reader’s mental lethargy…..”
The writer of these comments fails to mention how the “mental lethargy” comes about! I would opine that the ‘jokey-stuff’ was introduced in both the books and the meetings (pretty much the same thing), as a method of waking up those readers/listeners who had ‘nodded off’ during the previous proceedings!
“Witty repartee”? When and where did that happen? Osho delivered lengthy monologues for the most part in which no debate was permitted, did he not?
@Veet(Francesco)
You mention Prem Martyn re. back-stabbing comments of certain teachers, Francesco. I see it in a different light: I take the position that his remarks
function as a kind of ‘customer-review’ for services purchased in the market-place. Furthermore, as SN operates on the ‘air-waves’, I believe that anyone posting here needs to accept that whatever he/she contributes can very easily find its way to any third parties mentioned. I feel sure that PM is aware of this!
Finally, Francesco, as one of the teachers that PM ‘nuked’ is of Italian origin, as you are, it occurred to me that your response may have been provoked out of a sense of loyalty to someone who may be a friend of yours, or at the very least a cherished compatriot?
Ciao ragazzo!
@Prem Martyn
The language you used which seems to have unsettled Francesco, was not of too strong a flavour for my stomach. In fact I like it! (Please refer to a previous post of mine – not so long ago? – concerning the ‘Radical Honesty’ work of Dr Brad Blanton PhD, of the Brylcreem quiff- the latter not so honest!)
I agree that there is certainly “sanity in profanity” – and as you rightly point out, this is one notable quality that clearly sets Sannyas apart.
Full marks Mr Martyn, on this occasion, please carry on ‘fighting the good fight with all thy might!’
Arse Shock.. This is for you….

In Twelth Night the servant Malvolio examines a love letter written, so he’s been told, by his lady. He examines the handwriting and exclaims…
” By my life, this is my lady’s hand these be her very C’s, her U’s and her T’s and thus makes she her great P’s. It is, in contempt of question, her hand.”
In performance, of course, “and her T’s”, comes out as, “N her T’s,” thus spelling out CUNT—and it is with her cunt that Malvolio’s lady makes her great P’s.

About three farts in quick succession, perhaps the same asshole with different underwears, dirty.
As i said before: the usual premise (the last one), if the “Welcomes all sannyasins” above does not have a deceptive intent, about the responsibility of those people who writes emotionally protected by a keyboard: “AS IF”:
I read / write “as if” the words match the people who write, and that what one writes is a contribution to creating the reality that surrounds not only the reader;
This should be, if no deceptive intent is working here, the benevolent intention to communicate and share the rare pearl that Osho has given us, and not only among sannyasins, for example among all the readers of SN .
So I do not understand the exrcise in style that in Goa years ago the pigs of the toilets were well aware of, about these 60′s ‘Freaks who come here to put down their pants showing considerable encysted hemorrhoids as the best of their compassionate love ‘act, claiming to bring silence silencing others through the mountain of shit that threaten to pull against those who do not share this game, and their talent in playing it.
I do not know, MOD, what kind of contract, emotional or not (patriotism or soccer clubs?), You might have with them but you should know that when I send them to hell implicitly and over the others, I cannot, for intellectual honesty, for consistency and for equanimity not to send to hell even you, you who continue editing the exhibitionism of these Baudelaire amateurs.
This was the British part, now comes the drama.
I’m so emotionally convinced of what I write here, that I can only interpret the cynicism of which is infused the talk of these people above as a reaction, an escape from the general sense of lost due to the HATE / WAR of our days; an exorcism in an attempt to remove from himself the responsibility, starting with the words they use and that will remain, for a better world, that some of us will leave an inheritance to his nephews.
“Destroy is easy, childish” (almost Osho)
“What does not Becomes Eros turns into Thanatos” (almost Freud)
Now comes the understanding stage.
What I try to share essentially, not at all moralizing, is the surprise and sorrow for those who insist to invite others to break the mirror of the Master, here publicly, with the right understanding that this must be done if we want to emancipate and become a light unto ourself, but going on slamming against the everybody ‘comfort zones wall, of who feels attacked by someone so jealous of its own walls.
For me to break the Master mirror must be done in solitude, with the courage to cross the borders of our emotional and mental limits, with the only force that comes from the awareness to be more and more relentlessly angry with ourself, for the heavy bars we put around our heart.

Hi SN Folks,
You also could have chosen at least an original quote from Chaitanya Keerti´s latest book, which also was available in the Osho News net.
But you decided to choose a review of a ´Chopra’ (whatever the prefix to that name was or is).
In the original quote out of the book, which I read, I find points I can relate to, like putting into concern how meditation is merchandised in these times, quoting an ´ancient statement´ of Kabir, which comes out of it ´when blind are leading the blind´.
Keerti made a very good point, bringing that into conciousness, I feel.
Sincerely,
Madhu

a PS to my morning response( just to show him and others , what is a role model for me , and what NOT ( like some of your responses coping or quite often NOT coping with your own pain, or the pain of others:
“On 15 November 2015, two days after terrorist gunmen attacked the Bataclan theatre in Paris during a concert by the American band Eagles of Death Metal – in which 89 people died – Antoine Leiris wrote an open letter to his wife’s killers on Facebook. At the time, he had no idea of the effect his words would have: “On Friday night, you stole the life of an exceptional being, the love of my life, the mother of my son, but you will not have my hate. I don’t know who you are and I don’t want to know. You are dead souls.” He would not, he added, give the terrorists the “satisfaction” of hating nor of fearing them: “You want me to be scared, to see my fellow citizens through suspicious eyes, to sacrifice my freedom for security. You have failed. I will not change.” And he added that his baby son’s happiness (Melvil was 17 months) would continue to defy them: “Because you will not have his hate either.”

(Please tell me how to find the sharing you did here years ago).
Ok, the point is that just before I had used the same “xxxxx” to simulate precisely that censorship, so no homophobia on my side, nine years in the uniform at least teach goliardery*.
Unfortunately, despite your compliments that I take as sincere, after having sent to hell the beloved MOD, the spell-checker service HE was giving to my comments is interrupted (or maybe there is no relation between the two things) and this exposes me even more to the continuous attack of the red ass bullies (baboons).
This means that what I have to share is not worth the effort of the reader to look beyond my limits of linguistic expression. I do not really know which of the two things, form or substance, creates this situation, or if both things, or what Sam (the soul of SN) would say on it.
No drama, it’s fine an online literary circle that talks about the world of the most iconoclastic of the Masters, I just found the paradox that to make of his iconoclasm a dogma creates a special kind of priesthood, utter self-annihilation, a regardless rebel, a spiteful cynic, a monkey precisely.
In an Italian political forum I’m arguing about the opportunity or not to use in our field of socialist commitment categories like Friend/Enemy by Carl Schimitt. After I have found his “political ontology” a nihilist device I suggested that it would be better not to use it, imho, because the existential level comes first, before the intellectual one.
I also shared the difference of Nietzsche’s nihilism, which sets the stage of the New Man.
All these conflicts here are perhaps due to the confusion of the two levels. But in the end, for me it is ok, even those who look at Osho as a teacher and pragmatically uses his method to have a bit of fun or literary glory, if it is all about this then it is sad, but sadder would be for me spend energy to strike monkeys. @Prem_Martyn
Dear Friends, maybe it’s time to clarify the phrase “Sancho is a hard one” (paraphrasing the words of the song in the link “Sancho does not die”), meaning “Sancho is a tough guy”.
Firstly I dedicated this beautiful song because for me it is like that, beautiful…it seems not enough to push one to find out the meaning of the phrase, googling a bit; I didn’t find the translation on permanent link but using Google Translate I got it and put it below.
I linked it in response to PM after that he felt ungenerously criticized by me.
The song is inspired by Cervantes’ book (I have not yet read it), the refrain says “for love only for love”. This identifies me as interlocutor, my intentions in saying something that may have hurt someone. In fact, before, I thanked PM for his sharing too.
Specifically, Sancho (the grounded one) is thought/dreamed by the author (R. Vecchioni) in love with Dulcinea while he’s complaining of Don Quixote, to whom he is a servant, he (DQ) being in search of glory against the windmills, to win the heart of the same Dulcinea.
“Sancho does not die” alludes to the hope that the grounded love, having deeper roots than the “dreams” of the actions we do towards the glory (in this case our writing/reading egos), could survive to the dream, emerging with real sorrow.
Certainly the thing sounds a bit labyrinthine, at least three levels overlying (book, song, dream, author).
But all this stuff is to say to PM: i’m sorry if I hurt you.
The song: ‘For love only for love’, by the “master of the dream”, RV.
Girl we are lies along the time
hanging like leaves to the Mistral wind
you were not born yet and I already had you in me
like tonight, in this house of Alcazar
but more beautiful to have you it is when I draw you
nothing has more reality of the dream
the world does not exist
the world is not true
and I dreamed of me
For love, only for love
of my eyes, my words
with rotten fruit between the hands
with the woman that there is no tomorrow
For love, only for love
for the lost child on the stairs
as support if the legs are shaking
to see where the others look
no, Sancho does not die
I fought the heart of the windmills
with a crazy old man who pretends to be me
I loved Dulcinea along other hundreds
I sang for her, but why?
In a land of shadows between the earth and the sky
Now I dream of you
For love, only for love
of my gestures, my words
the nights that I confuse them together
and the wine, lazy river in the veins
For love, only for love
of the face that can not return
of the star that can not fall down
Your hand does not know how hold me anymore
For love, only for love
I always played to amaze
For love, only for love
behind a veil that you can not cross
For love, only for love
Hug,
