Modi Watch continues at SN

SN continues to be amazed that leading sannyasins in the sub-continent fawn to this absurd new Prime Minister.  Modi seems to desperately want the percentage of Indians who are Hindu to rise – by any means and any cost.

Narendra Modi Silent on Hindu “Conversions”

  • Indian government favours industry over environment

Opposition lawmakers threw India’s parliament into uproar at the end of last month amid charges that the Prime Minister has done nothing to stop hard-liners from forcibly converting religious minorities to Hinduism.

Right-wing Hindu groups allied with Modi’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party have conducted a series of ceremonies across India over the past month to convert Christians and Muslims to Hinduism.

Some of the Muslims later said they converted to Hinduism out of fear, raising the spectre of religious communalism and a growing political divide in a country that has struggled for years with intermittent Hindu-Muslim violence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an avowed Hindu nationalist, has remained silent on the issue.

The upper house of parliament was repeatedly adjourned at one point after opposition lawmakers demanded that the prime minister clarify his position on the conversions, with the impasse paralysing a series of key bills and stalling government efforts to overhaul the economy and boost growth.

India is mostly Hindu,  but has a significant Muslim minority and a smaller Christian one.

During December, members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, or World Hindu Council, converted 30 Christians to Hinduism in the southern Indian state of Kerala. In the western state of Gujarat, the VHP said 200 Christians had participated in weekend “homecoming” ceremonies.

Hindu hard-liners often call it “homecoming” because they say the ancestors of these families were once Hindus.

Similar conversions were performed earlier this month in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, where around 100 Muslims converted to Hinduism. Many said later that they were threatened with violence if they did not go along, and that they were promised government ration cards and money if they became Hindus.

Hindu hard-line organisations were key political backers of Mr Modi, who was voted into office earlier this year in a victory over the long-ruling Congress party. Since his election, the hard-line groups have become increasingly vocal, calling for the transformation of India into a Hindu nation.

“We are going to take the percentage of Hindus to 100 per cent in the country,” Praveen Togadia, a VHP leader, said. “We won’t tolerate Hindus becoming a minority in the country.”

Indian Muslims and Christians, and also secular Indians,  have long been wary of Mr Modi.

In 2002, he was accused of failing to stop anti-Muslim riots that shook Gujarat state, where he was then the top official there.  The violence killed at least 1,000 people.

Mr Modi has rejected the accusations, and India’s Supreme Court said that it found no evidence to prosecute him.

Some Christian groups say fear has also been spreading in their communities. Early this month, a Roman Catholic church was burned in New Delhi in a suspected case of arson.

Last month, a group singing Christmas carols was attacked in the southern city of Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, as members of parliament have battled about the conversions and the statements by Hindu leaders, Mr Modi has been entrenched in silence.

“The prime minister’s silence has been deafening,” said Dominic Emmanuel, a spokesman for the New Delhi Christian Archdiocese. “If Modi does not speak up now, the situation is going to slip out of his hands.”

Christians account for about 2.3 per cent of India’s 1.2 billion people and largely coexist peacefully with Hindus. About 14 per cent of Indians are Muslims.

Mr Modi’s education minister, Smriti Irani, caused an uproar four weeks ago when she suggested cancelling the xmas December 25 school holiday so students could attend classes on good governance. That idea was quietly scuttled.

Opposition lawmakers say Mr Modi’s silence is damaging the secular nature of Indian society -  and the religious freedoms guaranteed by the country’s constitution. SN agrees. Modi should be under continual satirical and other watch.

I wonder about editor´s fascination with PM Modi. I hope he will show a similar vigilance about Chairman of his master´s ashram, where a kind of bloodless coup and cleaning took place.

Modi is as good and bad as PM Cameron or as Secretary of State John Karry; they are hard-core politicians and quite often more pragmatic than hard-core spiritualists.

By an unfortunate accident of fate, I was once present at a Hindu/Muslim riot in Varanasi in the 70s.
Not a pretty sight, to put it mildly. I legged it pretty quickly, but quite a few were killed with sticks and knives.

Arun is supporting Modi, who generates and thrives on this kind of occurence.

Well, it doesn`t matter how ‘holy’ the river that it is floating in…a piece of shit is a piece of shit.

Arun is going out of his way to big up Modi. Holy, orthodox and ‘outraged’ sannyasins moan constantly about how negative the contributors are on SN.

Meanwhile, Arun calls this violent and powerful psychopath Modi “Zorba the Buddha” and a saint and no one bats an eyelid
or even delights in the ‘expansion of Oshos work!

    Unbelievable.

    • frank says:

Actually, as time goes on and I become more au fait with the ins and outs of so-called ‘religious’ and ‘spiritual’ thinking and acting, I would be more inclined to say: “totally believable”

  4. Parmartha says:

Not obsessed with Modi at all, Shantam.

I am concerned that Osho World and Osho Tapoban seem so adulatory towards him.

He has quite a bad record and he is clearly a fairly extreme Hindu nationalist – this latter says absolutely nothing for his intelligence.

I am concerned that their fawning towards him is actually to do with the Pune Resort. I rather suspect they hope he will put an end to the westerners there through some edict or other (that should please you!).

Strange what politicians do to garner power.

    • Amrito says:

Yes Parmatha, regardless of the good and bad of Modi, this adoration from Tapoban and O World is nothing more than political networking so they can bring the Resort down with their bare hands.

Modi definitely has a good outlook to bring India’s economy to the frontlines, as he did with Gujarat; however, this has nothing to do with the fascination of Sw Arun, Keerti or Neelam.

  5. Lokesh says:

The name Modi reminds me of a dentist on MG Road back in the Seventies.

He was the Willie Fixit of the dental world, a couple of steps up from the joker on the pavement outside, who was pulling teeth with a pair of rusty pliers. I liked Mr Modi, partly because he looked a bit like my dad. He was a heavy smoker and usually had a lit Capstan jammed into the corner of his mouth as he peered into yours through the enveloping clounds of nico smoke.

He always got the job done and his prices were today’s equivelant of 20 times less than what my German dentist, The Weiss Angel, charges on Ibiza.

The sight of Indians and Muslims having a riot is plain ugly. In 1982, when visiting Lucknow, there was smoke on the water and bullets in the street, due to the riots in Ayodah over some pile of ancient rubble or some such crap.

One unlucky chap in the neighbourhood was having a cuppa on the verandah with his missus when a stray bullet passed right through his head, leaving the poor women splattered with flying mince and minus her beloved hubby. Sad story..

  6. shantam prem says:

Lokesh, this dentist Dr. Modi remained Osho´s dentist on the call. So I have seen this friendly energy doctor quite often in the ashram premises.

When I recall his face, he has more friendly smile on his face and aura than many of the well-known disciples beating their chest with the slogan, “Live, Love, Laughter.” (MOD: WASN’T THAT Love, Life, Laughter’?)

I am quite sure, but not 100%, the ex-wife of Dr. Modi became the disciple/devotee of OshO. She was my boss in Osho Academy of Sannyas Initiation and one of the five in the original Inner Circle.

  7. shantam prem says:

‘Live, Love, Laughter’ or ‘Love, Life, Laughter’, the punchlines look like from the era when telephones were with cords.

In 1984, when I took sannyas in a meditation camp, during Kirtan a typical Sannyas song was a hit:

    ‘Moment to moment
    Live, love, laugh
    Time is short
    Time is short!!

  8. frank says:

Modi has appointed a `Minister for Yoga` to safeguard the purity of the 5000 year old Indian heritage. Yet it turns out from research that the Hatha Yoga of today actually stems in large part from changes made in the last century, where various exercises, including notably Scandinavian gymnastics, were mixed in.

Further to that, it is has been established that these Scandinavian exercises were adapted (along with ‘Swedish massge’ from Chinese martial and healing arts brought back to Europe and passed off as their own ideas by Skandi missionaries).

So Hatha Yoga, rather than being a pure 5000 year-old product, is a wonderful mongrel with elements from all over the world! (Once women started doing it, the ancient claims were wiped anyway).

It is similar to when people take DNA tests that can establish the broad genetic history of your ancestors. It`s amazing how many members of the National Front and other nationalist nutters in Europe have traces that show their ancestors are from Africa and all over the world.

The perception of history has changed a lot in the last half-century and one trend that has emerged continuously and is agreeed by all historians is that people moved around much more through the ages than was previously imagined. Homo Erectus and Homo Sapiens have proven to be more Homo Walkaboutus.

‘Pure’ races, nations, religions, ideas exist solely in the mind of ignorant and sick people with violence on their minds.

But everyone knows that, don`t they?

    • Arpana says:

A man called Iyengar, who had/has an ashram in Poona, rewrote the book of yoga in the last fifty, sixty years. He invented new postures, upgraded existing postures, and established a school of Iyengar Yoga.

      • satyadeva says:

Yes, Iyengar was based in Pune and I recall hearing Osho endorsing his yoga teaching while talking to someone who wanted to practise yoga, during a darshan in Pune 1. “He is the best yoga teacher in India”, he declared.

        • Ashok says:

You may recall, SD, that 2 days ago at 6.44pm, to be precise, Martini as you call him, decided to sentence me to the punishment of spending time in a locked room with you! Of course, if he had thought about it for a little longer, instead of reacting, he would have come to the conclusion that a real penal ordeal would have been to condemn me to spending time in a locked room with him!

Thankfully, he often displays a youthful innocence and exuberance at times, which I can find engaging when in a generous mood.

Now, whilst on the subject of innocence, I would like to query you re your remarks on Osho’s endorsement of Iyengar’s yoga teaching i.e. “He is the best yoga teacher in India.”

Would it be the case, SD, that because Osho gave an opinion on a certain subject, that you in your ‘star-struck’ innocence and gullibility, automatically accepted it to be true?

          • satyadeva says:

Most certainly, that was the case back then, Ashok. I wouldn’t necessarily call it “gullibility” though, as his opinions tended to be pretty accurate and seemed to come from a more profound place than those of anyone else I’d ever come across.

And who knows, maybe he was spot on in his view of Iyengar in that darshan? He certainly didn’t come across as ‘anti-yoga’ in any way, quite the opposite in fact, telling the young man concerned that it was “very good for the body” and a good thing to go into, giving him his blessings for the venture.

He also, btw, suggested that yoga should expand, develop new processes, to fit contemporary body/minds for which the old exercises weren’t always immediately appropriate.

            • satyadeva says:

This sort of apparent self-contradiction happened a lot with Osho, so it’s not really possible to take his every public utterance totally at face-value, as ‘Osho’s definitive opinion’, as it were.

Very often, perhaps invariably, the bottom line for him was the individual and whether or not something was ‘right’, was actually or potentially valuable for him / her at that particular time.

Other examples I recall are similarly differing public and private statements on Maharishi’s TM, school teaching, the value of work, the worth of higher education, and expressing negativity, to name but five that instantly come to mind.

So, although some people seem to want or need to try to, one can’t really make an authentic ‘ideology’ out of Osho’s words. He was/is far deeper, far more real, far more of Life Itself than that. Thank God….

            • Ashok says:

Ok, SD, your honesty is appreciated.

  9. shantam prem says:

There is a webpage where Osho has spoken something about Iyengar.
    http://www.osho.com/iosho/library/read-book/online-library-a-buddha-iyengar-body-2aaec008-487?p=eb5e4c4bce0ed632a4c3084152d95bee

I will be glad if someone tells me some webpages where Osho has spoken about Barrack Obama, Narendra Modi or Pope Frances. After all, how we can make opinions about someone we have not heard from Osho?

Osho has spoken so much against priests and politicians, we can rest in peace as we don´t have such words in our world. We have therapists, session givers, facilitators. We have trust and trustees, chairman and management committee, but no filthy thing called priests and politicians.

Many times we pretend, if we don´t call rectum the asshole, it will work as heart!

Oh, yes…we live in heart energy!

  10. Parmartha says:

Unnao MP, Sakshi Maharaj, on January 7 appealed to all Hindu women to produce at least four children to protect the Hindu religion. One wonders from what he wants to protect it?

Sakshi emphasised that it is necessary for Hindus to increase their progeny to protect the religion.

More Modi thinking behind this, I dare say.

  11. shantam prem says:

Parmartha, you are quite an expert in the matters concerning India. On one level, it really touches me. It is really grace of Osho that so many westerners feel an ‘at home’ feeling with India. I was many times more contented to see foreigners in India than to see Indians in all foreign countries. Indians go for the sake of economic reasons, they have zero percent interest in natives’ culture and way of life, whereas foreigners in India bring curiosity, search, money and glamour.

I think Osho is the only one who created a kind of ‘Foreigner Village’ In India. Without this. many would not have got the chance to spend years and years in India.

Here, I am referring one cover story of a news magazine and I am sure, as an India watcher, you must be aware about Sunanda Tharoor´s unnatural death a year ago.

A highly successful and charming woman who craved her success in male-dominated Dubai, falls in love with one of the most articulate politicians. The youngest to complete a PhD in diplomacy from Tufts University, Massachusetts, after highly successful UN career he joins ruling Congress Party and becomes State Minister of external affairs.

Calls his third wife “love of my life” and this woman dies suddenly in the 7 stars hotel room a year ago after a bitter spat with the husband, whom she thinks is flirting with highly gorgeous and sensuous looking Pakistani journalist.

The head of the forensic department has told again and again how much political pressure was put on him to declare the cause of death, ‘natural’. One sentence from the interview sheds the light how investigations are done in India when political and money pressure is asserted:

“If the chief of the forensic department in AIIMS (Delhi´s Prime hospital) is under pressure to alter a report, can you imagine the pressure in other hospitals? Not only was I removed, another official was promoted and designated as chief.”

This case I am pointing out for the reason, 25 years ago Nirvano died under similar circumstances, and the post-mortem report was obtained as natural death.

What I want to say is that if we think because of MEDITATION, black becomes white, it is misconception. Games are played everywhere, even when there is too much talk about HEART AND SOUL.

My observation is Sannyas is not flowering because human mind has taken over the existential agenda. It is dying and disappearing as tree without water.

On one level, I feel, it is the natural justice.

Cardinal Singh, the head of the Indian Catholic church, rushes up to the Pope and helps him to his feet.
“My goodness, Holy Father!” cries the Cardinal. “Why did you do that?”
“Well,” says the Pope, wiping his lips, and drying his eyes. “Have you ever flown Air India?”

  15. anand yogi says:

Ignorant western baboons can never understand the true truth about Modi and Arun! Modi is indeed just the yogi to save both mighty India and to ethically cleanse the depraved alcoholic Anglo-Saxon baboons who have hijacked and corrupted our holy 5000 year-old religion, from Holy Samadhi!

I will attempt to explain, although I cannot expect the mind-obsessed mindfuckers of Sannyas News whose western minds are nothing other than mind itself, to understand!

What is now under way in the world is similar to that which was described by Osho in ‘I am the Gate’, where the “Nine Unknown Men of Ashoka”, an esoteric group that has been in existence since Emperor Ashoka’s days, attempted to control Adolf Hitler and to bring about a new world order.

The occult group, to which Arun, Keerti, myself and Swami Bhorat have close ties, are now trying, with the special help of Arun and Keerti, to exercise occult control over Narendra Modi and to give him maximum power in order to bring about a new yuga of spirituality and yoga in the world.

Modi, with his nationalistic and fascistic tendencies, was deemed a perfect vehicle by the “Nine”, but there was still work to do…Not long ago, his left testicle had to be removed in a Vedic Yogic ceremony in order to balance his Ida and Pingala nadis and to transfer the energy from his reproductive and eliminative organs into his cortex.

The success of the operation is clearly visible!!

Unfortunately, in the case of Hitler, the plan went badly wrong when some renegade Tibetan lamas and yogis leaked a specific mantra designed to counteract the plan to Allied Intelligence. With devastating karmic timing, the black magic mantra, ‘Hitler has only got one ball’, was chanted by allied troops everywhere, causing a massive wave of negative energy to engulf Hitler and causing him to commit Sati.

Thus the plan was unsuccessful and the world was handed over to Anglo-Saxons, Jews, homosexuals, women, left-wingers, cartoonists, cynics, Muslims, ex-sannyasins and the mind.

We will not make the same mistakes this time!
We are working overtime for the vision of the nine men!

Another plan was to bring Osho back into incarnation,in a similar way that The theosophical society attempted to funnel Maitreya Buddha into Krishnamurti`s body. Swami Arun heroically offered his body for the task and declared himself to be a suitable medium.

Unfortunately, the plan had to be abolished when Babaji`s dhobiwallah discovered at the last moment that Arun is actually an XL.

Nevertheless, Babaji was still impressed with the size of Arun`s movement, which, like the monetary policies of the BJP is certainly having a trickle-down effect.

Only yesterday, Modi`s government has designated that there should be an organisation in India to re-educate homosexuals.

Shantam`s obsession with Elton John is perfectly correct! Living in the perverted spiritual wasteland of the West, he understands how easily the mighty lingam of Bhorat could end up being blown off by homosexuals!

The mighty religion of Osho could end up like a candle in the wind!
Rocket men must not be allowed to blast off when and where they wish along the yellow ochre road of mighty Bhorat!

The words and opinions of a man with 180 devoted facebook disciples who have taken a holy vow of silence, cannot so easily shrugged off!

I pray for the holy day which will be facilitated by mahayogi Zorba the Buddha, holywarrior Modi, when the Kaffar is finally evicted from Koregaon Park and the rightful heirs of mighty Bhorat: Swamis Arun, Keerti, Shantam, Rajneesh, Dhyanraj take their rightful place on the podium to the loud cheers of the truly mindless!

I vow to be the first to throw myself at their feet and bang my head on the holy marble!

“Modi is indeed just the yogi to save both mighty India and to ethically cleanse the depraved alcoholic Anglo-Saxon baboons who have hijacked and corrupted our holy 5000 year-old religion, from Holy Samadhi!” – Anand Yogi.

Funny stuff, Anand Yogi – except you degrade Hinduism by calling it a religion. Hinduism is not a religion, it is many religions. All types of religions exist in Hinduism; it is a crowd, it is a phenomenon in itself. Every type that has ever existed in the world exists in Hinduism. This is a miracle!

Even atheists can be Hindus. Buddha was an atheist, he didn’t believe in God. He said there is no God, and even more mysterious, he said there is no soul. He said nothing exists, and he became one of the incarnations of a Hindu God.

It is really mysterious. This atheist, Gautam Buddha, became the Tenth Avatar. He said there is no God and Hindus said, “This man is God’s incarnation”.

(MOD: IS THIS AN OSHO QUOTE, SAMARPAN?)

    • frank says:

      Samarpan,
If ‘Hindus’ say of Buddha, who is an atheist, “He is God`s incarnation”, isn`t that just a way of sticking to their own beliefs, ignoring what the man was saying, and completely missing the point?

      • anand yogi says:

        Perfectly correct, Samarpan!
        Hinduism indeed contains everything!
No other multi-tasking bundle of religion has ever come close!

You have a well-developed no-mind and your logic makes it completely clear that Osho is also a Hindu!

Yes! He will be assimilated by Hinduism!
        Resistance is futile!
He is also an incarnation of Vishnu!

It is already happening through the heroic work of Arun, Keerti, Modi and Shantam is also playing his part!
