Everybody creates a story that supports a sense of identity and then as the sense of identity develops, we are drawn to memories and incidences, we become attached to memories and incidences the support that growing sense of identity.

The stories that stick with us when very young, I surmise, are the basis of our identity; then once that’s happened, we increasingly tune into that which supports that identity. Also very connected to what hurts us I guess, survival mechanisms.
IMO, part of the meditation journey, the meditation journey is to examine our stories, that we think are what actually happened, and in so doing eventually see them as stories which give us identity, and the looking through meditation changes the stories. (This is considered conjecture on my part, and may well be just part of my story about my story.

Truth is not an experience.
Having a chat with some friends today about Osho getting all the gang to be a witness. Time passed and the Beedie Wallah alerted me to the fact that simply being a witness is just part of the story and that thinking witnessing is it is a misguided notion. When someone presented Beedie Wallah with their witnessing trip he told them that it was an incomplete teaching because the teacher had not introduced them to the true nature of the witness. Now then, how about that?
