The film that Vartan posted yesterday: . It reminded me clearly of part of my life 30 years ago (thanks)… but what was also noticeable was any spiritual humility, or deeper wisdom at least from the contributors. Certainly there was a lot of ego around in those days in Pune one…. and in a way a sort of superiority complex………. what did the old Viennese masters used to say, a superiority complex was not a thing apart, but a species of an inferiority complex.
Seeing it again after all these years there was a fault line… whether it could have been corrected at the time is open to dispute.
its ok to call things as you see them.
that was a movie about arrogant religious twats heading for a fall, for sure.
the harder they come the harder they fall
one and all….
arrogance is always a compensatory gambit.
as siggy cigardust pointed out
its foolish to defend your past.
if anything, wisdom starts in realising your folly..
What comes out of that video (for me) and it comes in Laxmi’s words, is the speed with which events were unfolding. One day there were ten of them, a few months later hundreds, and soon after that thousands. The hippy generation was the most selfish and unaccepting of anybody else’s viewpoint, ever. In their innocence they wanted to totally destroy the past and everybody in it. It looked like fun for a while.
