Osho was very clear about it, that he didn’t want the music for those active meditations, dynamic and kundalini changed.

Deuter, as many will know, was the sannyasin musician, who composed the original music in the ‘70’s in Poona One. Now he is a world famous composer of New Age music.
At some point in Poona he managed to get hold of more instruments, or more sophisticated synths and sound recording equipment, and he thought about changing the music and he asked Osho if he could update the music.

But Osho told him the music was perfect as it is and that ‘no, you keep the music as it is, and the same energy from the meditations being practised everyday will keeping building up over years.’ Not an exact qoute, but it can be found in an interview with Deuter somewhere.

This is the simple reason why the new music is simply stupid.

From this article:
http://www.oshonews.com/2011/02/25/music-for-osho-active-meditations/

"Now with the newly recovered equipment and instruments in place Chaitanya thought of re-working the music for the Kundalini Meditation, but Osho was adamant against changing it and absolutely wanted to stick to the original version: “He said ‘No, it is ok the way it is. It is building up energy and it should not be changed.’ He stressed a few times that once the music was established the way he wanted it, it should not be changed. That was really important for him.”

It is everybody’s experience that the moment we hear the music of, say, the Kundalini, we promptly fall into the space of that particular meditation, as if we have fallen into the collective which recognises it. The music helps us connect to the meditation immediately and to go deeper into meditation. “Osho said that its effects would build up over the years, that it would create its own energy field by itself. Over a thousand years the music would form a field of resonance that would deeply affect each person doing the meditation.”

About Dynamic

1. The original version drumming in the first stage of dynamic gives a feeling of chaos, lack of a constant rhythm. This is to help the "chaotic" breathing, help break the rhythm.

In the new version, the music has a rhythm, it makes you want to dance to it or listen to it...and the whole idea of chaos is lost.

2. Same in the second stage. The drums have a rhythm. You feel like dancing to the rhythm of the drums.

In the original version the music is really insane and chaotic, to help you get in touch with the inner insanity.

Very poor execution on the new music for this stage, because it makes you just want to dance to it.

3. Is atrocious. The syncopation of the drums is very distracting.

In the original version there is a very regular rhythm, so you can just jump "hooo hoooo hoooo hooo" and it just increases your energy.

In this stage a regular rhythm is crucial, because it helps you keep jumping and jumping.

In the new version, when you jump and you are in the air you hear a drum sound syncopation...so the effect is that you just want to dance to the drum beat while you are in the air.

Third stage needs to have a simple rhythm because it is meant to help you just jump and jump, without distractions.

Kundalini
1. Ok, passable.

2. The original music for Kundalini starts slow, and it increases the rhythm gradually.
My experience is that it just makes you dance more and more wildly, until you lose control, and sometimes even jump while dancing.

I don't feel this in the new version. It kind of makes me dance like in a disco. Just music to dance to...not a meditation to lose control in dance.

There is also Veeresh's version of Kundalini which is very much in the spirit of the old version, but much more alive and fun.

3. Third stage, I enjoyed. I liked it better than the original. The sitar and Indian classical music which replicates the AUM sound is very good.

Then again, read the passage above where it says that the energy from Kundalini music, practised by people around the world for 40 years, every day at 5 o' clock, creates a giant energy field around the world...and this energy field is helping every person who does Kundalini go effortlessly deeper into meditation.

All this is wasted if you change the music.

I repeat:

"Osho was adamant against changing it and absolutely wanted to stick to the original version: “He said ‘No, it is OK the way it is. It is building up energy and it should not be changed.’ He stressed a few times that once the music was established the way he wanted it, it should not be changed. That was really important for him.

“Osho said that its effects would build up over the years, that it would create its own energy field by itself. Over a thousand years the music would form a field of resonance that would deeply affect each person doing the meditation.”

I also notice a lot of positive comments to this...which just means that when the majority agree on something, it must be wrong.

I haven`t listened to the new tracks yet but I am a fan of the old versions.

Especially the music to Kundalini, which is something very special and timeless.

Once I experimented with using techno music in place of Nataraj meditation music.

Deuter composed the music and Bhagwan listened to some of the recordings with his cans on. "Mmm, good", he said.

See interview:

Bodhi, have not done either of those meditations in at least 30 years. I would not say I transcended them. They simply do not figure in my life any more.

The one Osho meditation technique that I do use once in a while, generally if someone visits, who can't get out of their head, is Nadabrahma. I mixed up a new version, more contemporary, electric, interesting and one friend who heard it now uses the soundtrack in guided psychedelic sessions. For me, Nadabrahma is a great technique. Simple, effective and it gets you into the moment with the minimum of fuss.

I have not listened to the two soundtracks above. Generally I find most of the official meditation tracks sound a bit dated. I do not have anything for or against that. So I checked out the Ozen tracks...very briefly. Yes, I suppose they are fine, if you are into that sort of thing.

The idea of doing Dynamic meditation today kind of fits in the same historic folder as dropping liquid acid into my eyes, mind you the latter was not something I did every morning at dawn for years. It was fun though.
