It must be the ‘cult mentality’, Parmartha, people riding on a wave of emotionality, undermining their own good sense (if they ever had much, or any), living in a bubble of ever-increasing delusion, finding it somehow conveniently ego-enhancing, increasing their self-importance, to follow their immediate leader (as in a ‘cult-within-a- (so-called) cult’) – completely forgetting why they’d come to the scene in the first place.

I wonder whether women might be more prone to such pathology than men, in similar circumstances. Knowing the type (of both sexes) that often gets attracted to sannyas, perhaps not.

This string started with a confession to attempted murder. Seems to have been little visited in the course of the string. but it would seem something to be explained: a woman who may well have come to sannyas along the same tracts as ourselves, but finding herself in the end of a sort of slave to another sannyasin who in a childish way says the whole world will depend on whether yet another sannyasin is murdered.
To me it is all very strange what was going on in Shanti Badra’s head, not to say Sheela’s. The first question for her should surely have been, what is this woman doing recording what is going on in Osho’s room anyway without his knowledge? Osho himself had always spoken publicly about euthanasia being a correct option for some people, so discussing it in his private life should not have led to any crazy overreaction or manipulation. There were clearly a few people by 1984/85 who saw Sheela as their guru, and not Osho, and be prepared to do crazy things for her. Now what on earth is the psychology of all that?

Dhyanraj, would a disciple of Rajneesh automatically become a disciple of Osho or is there a separate induction ceremony for that?
