Because when Mexico defaulted on its loans in the 80′s and 90′s Canada and USA came in and offered them help if they joined the Wheat Growers Cartel Of North America,… the peasants costs were higher per bag than industrial wheat was.. hey presto they start emigrating to the cities and the drug barons take over the local emptied economies and desperation, by selling drugs to the yankees.

Awakened ? Only if we find that these realities help us to define the limits of collective narcosis. It may just do that, by this seeker stuff we label as potentially transforming, but I really doubt that this planet is the only place in time and space reserved for experimental evolution.
