I hope Toby that your sort of fleeting and anonymous visit to this subject is not only that, but that you are prepared to dialogue.
I am after being a detective myself, my great grandfather was actually quite a famous detective, and the genes are still there!
You mention a 1985 darshan in your post which was post Sheela leaving. Are you referring to the so-called Press Conferences or what?
As I remember this was mainly when Osho spoke publicly at that time.
These discourses are held for posterity in the various publications.
You would have to be much more specific.
I was around as a communard on the Ranch during this period myself, and do recall Osho saying a few times that “ultimately” he was responsible for everything that went down. I took this to mean it was HIS organisation, and he took his eye off the ball when he should have been keeping more of an eye out for what Sheela was doing – and that he had appointed the main players himself, so in that he was responsible.
As for Jesus Grove, well a number of people who lived there gave testimony to Grand Juries in 1985/6 and were under oath, which they did to save their own necks.
They itemise the crimes of Sheela broadly, and indicate they were cooked up by her and her cohorts, and Osho has by that time become almost a side issue to them, so identified with their “project” were they.

This particular brand of subject matter holds little fascination for me but yes I reckon the old boy was quite aware of everything that was going on, if for no other reason than an intelligent fellow like Osho could not have missed the actions of a bunch of toads like Sheela and co. Osho was obviously behaving in a very unenlightened way during those times but really it makes no differance to how I now perceive the years I spent with him. Those were great times but they are long gone. Learn what you can and move on.

there seems to have been a culture of necking down some seriously duff drugs amongst the high flyers of the chosen few…
uppers,downers,nitrous,valium,gin,scotch…
sounds more like a squat in hackney,or something….
osho and vivek … a sort of sid `n` nancy for the new age….?
man,i would like to read a proper book about all that stuff.
its not going to happen,is it?

You seem to agree that Sheela was pushed over the edge, and you give your reason as Hasya envy. She was certainly in a bad mental way, but from much earlier (circa 1982/3) when she became addicted to uppers and downers given her by the Filopino.

It wasn’t just Osho’s room that was bugged, Vivek’s was also. So your explanation does not hold.
The most famous “discourse” that was “lost” was from 1984/5 when Osho described Sheela’s empire as fascistic before she left the Ranch.
It was delivered to a chosen few, but the following evening the video never appeared for the mutltitude as was the custom in those days. This is widely known.
As far as I know there are no commentators on this period who deny this as this knowledge is from multiple sources, and it was destroyed on Sheela’s orders.

Well, I mostly lived in JG for about three years, and from what I saw and very close contact with Sheela I would say that the old man was definitely pretty firmly behind everything. As to bugging his room, he knew about that from the beginning and played it for his own purposes. I saw Sheela return many nights in tears from the verbal beatings she received from him, when things were not going the way he wanted them to.

I was also filming the night of the evening darshan when there was a “technical malfunction” so that all recordings were lost. In fact, in that talk, he affirmed that everything happening at the Ranch, and everything Sheela did, was completely his doing, and he had full knowledge of it. That could not be edited as we edited so many other of his evening darshans, could not be saved at all – so all copies of video and audio were sequestered.

He may not have known the dirty details of everything, but to me it is quite clear that he had basically ordered Sheela and the girls to make it happen by any means necessary, threatening to disappear if it didn’t. I’m, in fact, pretty sure that the attempt to kill Devaraj had to do with preventing him from giving Osho any kind of easy way out. Sheela was eventually pushed over the edge by the behind-the-scenes manipulation to replace her with the Hollywood crowd. Elaborate schemes had to be concocted to allow him to meet with Hasya, having to do with a fictional movie script, but Sheela could smell the coffee…

Believe it or not – it is up to you. This is what I know and what I have pieced together from my experience. It may not be completely accurate, but I’m pretty sure it is broadly accurate.

Also the Sheela is beating her bush, so my Indian middle-class sensibility is getting me rectified. If i go to urologist he will become slowly, slowly the disenchanted with the size of the problem and whilst 69-ing the educated dentist in the big boss`s office, he may notice the inbuilt contradictions and confusions in the mouth of sexist racist homophobic CEO’s of stupidity in the name of saving the Osho.

The oddest personal insight.
After all these years.
I am guilty of double standards where Osho is concerned and I’ve not recognised this before.
Osho contradicts himself. Tells Porkies. That’s OK by me.
Anyone else gets called out. (Not literally. Haven’t the energy).
For some reason, that makes me laugh.

At this juncture, to talk about Sheela regime at Rajneeshpuram is like beating the bush, we can rectify the history by bringing Jayesh regime at Osho Pune into right senses. Great places are not built with sand, cement and steel, but with love, compassion and awareness.
Slowly, slowly the disenchantement with sannyas managers is taking shape. Save Osho Pune group at FB is fuelling the fire aganist the lies, lies and more lies originating from the big boss´s office.
