dervish,
the problem about reading a few gurdjieff books and identifying with gurdjieff, like a kid identifying with a comic book hero is that you start to think that you are a lion, others are sheep, that others will die like dogs etc etc.
you may find it a very exciting fantasy and it can take you right away from your own considerably less powerful life in which you have enjoyed considerably less fun, depth and freedom than the average sannyasin….i doubt that the sannyas veterans who have actually lived a few gurdjieffian lives and more, rather than just dreamed about them from their suburban semis will be taken in by such childish fantasies….
a black sheep in a flock of white?
dont decieve yourself…
you are a happily married man who never looks at other women.
your idea of being a black sheep is a wank fantasy….
Yes, Frank that is well put. I think Dervish is very representative of a man with a bit of book knowledge under his belt and that is about it. He comes across as rather a confused individual. The other day I had him asking to become friends on Facebook, a site I use for messaging etc. and occasionally sticking a link to one of my obscure books in the off chance that somebody might be interested in reading them. Going under the name of Sufi Sufii, I told him that I don’t want him in my social network because he was liable to make a nuisance of himself. Meanwhile, Sufi, had been busy. He posted some banal comments about a painting of mines (just sold for 2000 squids) ’THis is shit! etc. Another friend, proud father, creative guy in the music world, gets a question from Sufi, ’Are you gay?’…..So, yes, Frank, childish about sums the man up. I am not sure why Dervish is so attracted to SN. To be honest, I am not so interested as I find most of his comments boring. I am not someone who feels the need to hide their identity on any blog, but it makes sense to do it with the likes of Sufi around, because they abuse the fact. Live and learn, I suppose. Still, I feel it makes for a more honest blog if you publish your comments under your true identity, but that is a personal thing.
Kind of predictable.
