There seems a difference to me between a choice between action and inaction, which in the best public schools (which I say tongue-in-cheek) is always seen as a matter of 'character' and training one’s character, and that being proactive is always better than being 'lazy'!

Many poetry writers in those sad schools would disagree, including the famous!

This, however, seems a different type of matter to going beyond action and inaction both, which as I understand it, is the mystical position.

After moving to London in 1984 I hit a really low patch. Felt absolutely stuck and made a decision to do vipassana every day, because that seemed like the only viable option at the time, and that I would keep doing so until it dropped, no matter what I went through, and I went through hell at times, but kept going.

One of the ways I got through was that I gave myself permission to quit, but only when I was feeling ok. Wasn't allowed to on a downer. Took a year. Made new foundations, Foundations for a life based on Kaizan if you will, rather than bull at a gate, and have never looked back since.
