My old brain with that only usable one eye on the right side does create a lot of mis-spellings here as well, because no correction is possible later on, which is my habit. (And on the last day he looked at it all and found it was mis-spelt). But if you (the admin) like to correct my humble egocentric short discourses for the next: 'Best-Of Sannyas News', go ahead and do correct by yourself. Thank you.

So many new comments and disputes here! facebook or Instagram are just dead concerning this kind of spiritual context by homemade writers. The last philosophying Swamis all gathered here?

So many gurus and teachers we discuss here, clearly without getting the original message howsoever honestly and openly we may try. So what? That will be needed. We still have to go into meaningless, beautiful and misinterpreting words - again and again - for many more lifetimes - till we may eventually see the futility of it. Just go on with it! ;-)

In the meantime you may find your best choice of living western masters in this video-encyclopedia, but forget about the first chapter of Indian masters - they are all unknown (except Ramesh Balsekar):

If you look at it closely, the European Enlightenment and the Industrial Revolution put the mind in service of the desires of the rich. And the rich desire “ever more” because they are defined by their money, in very many cases, as a class they are defined by holding onto wealth because those members who did not share that characteristic would soon exit the class.

I recently came across a quote by Stephen Hawking where he said that if the wealth of industrialisation was equally shared, everyone would have enough. But he also said that what was coming was a conflict between the wealthy and those who desired to make wealth common to all. That if the wealthy won this conflict, the result would be a world of great contrasts.

I thought it was a really interesting view on the future.

I was thinking about the films of Hayao Miyazaki and the way he shows magical elements through the eyes of children. If you’ve never watched a Miyazaki film, I’d highly recommend it. Try ‘My Neighbour Totoro’ or ‘Spirited Away’, you’ll be enchanted.

Miyazaki uses a blend of elements from Shinto, folklore and European fairytales, creating worlds where the magical meets the everyday. I love his imagination, his view of flying, his sense of nature. He once said, it’s more important to give a child one hour of happiness than to give an adult a year of happiness, because the child will carry that hour for the rest of his life.

All his films are now on Netflix.

Do you think Osho could become a professor of philosophy without a brilliant analytical mind?

Analysis has its place, and a very important one in the world, eg in business, economics, science, the humanities, medicine, forecasting football results...but I doubt whether it ever spiritually enlightened anyone.

But this is all blindingly obvious stuff, isn't it?

I recall Osho saying something like “analysis depends on subdivision, taking ever smaller segments of a larger whole, and this is why reason cannot apprehend the whole, only the parts.” Don’t remember which book it was in though.

Do you think that analysis has a conclusion or endpoint? The mind just seems to keep digging forever, it wants to keep progressing and winning. Or at least understanding, if winning is not possible. It’s as if by adding to its store of familiar patterns the mind is subjugating the external world.
